Q: Is your prize pool real money, though??? 🤔
A: Yes, it is.

Q: You mean, like cash?
A: Yes, it’s cash. 💵

Q: Are you sure it’s not an equivalent amount for any services?
A: No, it’s cash.

Q: To receive the money, do I need to give up any rights, equity, IP, a percentage of the game revenue, or commit to publishing with someone?
A: No, you don’t! OMG, what kind of competitions ask for that??? 😱

Q: Do you have hidden terms or conditions to receive money?
A: No! We will wire your prize money to your bank account. We just need an invoice.

Q: Do I need to give my kidney or something?
A: Dude! C’mon! 🙄

Q: So you’re just going to give real money with no additional conditions, no organ removals, no squeezing out shares, etc? Just give the money to the winners?
A: Yes! Yes! Yes!

Q: When will I receive money if I win?
A: Within 4 weeks after the Awards Ceremony on November 7.

Q: Are you sure it’s not a SCAM? I’m still not convinced…
A: Oh boy… 🤦‍♀️Follow us on X, Discord, or LinkedIn, we will post some videos from past winners and endorsements from judges.

Yes, but only if your game was released after November 15, 2024. Games released earlier than that are not eligible for the competition.

Absolutely! Your game can be in any phase of development. The only requirement is to have a playable build.

A game is considered released when it has been launched as a fully completed version on any platform. Games that are in Demo, Alpha, Beta, Early Access, Soft Launch, etc., are still considered to be in development.

If your game has previously won in any DevGAMM Awards category, it cannot be submitted again.

If it was nominated but didn’t win, you can resubmit – as long as your game still meets the eligibility criteria. However, you cannot apply for the same category it was nominated for in previous years.

We ask for game keys so judges can play and properly evaluate your game.

  • You’ll need to provide 25 keys during the initial submission.
  • If your game is nominated, we’ll request 50 additional keys for the final judging round, where more judges will play your game to help choose the winners.

If you’d rather not submit keys, you can share a private link to a playable demo instead.

In any case, judges must be able to access and play your game to keep it in the competition.

You can check the status of your submitted games via this link.

We review games and update the table every week. As we get closer to the deadline, the review process will be faster.

Games with sexual, harmful, discriminatory, or offensive content will be rejected.

Very early prototypes or rough-looking games may not be accepted.

We reserve the right to reject an application without providing an explanation.

Yes, your game can be disqualified during the judging process.

Here are some common reasons:

  • The keys you provided don’t work, and you don’t respond in time to replace them.
  • The build link is broken and judges can’t access the game.
  • You don’t respond to requests for additional information about your game or studio.
  • You knowingly provide false information (e.g. your team exceeds 50 people, or you apply for the Portuguese nomination without meeting the criteria).
  • And other similar cases.

We reserve the right to disqualify a game without providing further explanation.

You can check the status of your submission here.

Attendance is mandatory for all nominees, with the list being announced on October 7.

If you’re unable to attend, you can ask someone from the game industry to represent you, such as another developer from your country who is participating in the event.

Using the same submission form, you can also apply for other game activities at DevGAMM in Lisbon:

  • Game Showcase: An in-person expo with booths for your dev team, where attendees play games.
  • Public Pitch: A competition for 5 teams featuring a 5-minute pitch on stage in front of the jury and audience.
  • Steam Event: A dedicated Steam page featuring games from the Awards and DevGAMM conference.

Please refer to the STEAM EVENT section in the rules above.

We guarantee spots on the Steam page to:

  • All teams physically participating in the Game Showcase at DevGAMM Lisbon.
  • All the nominees in the main Awards categories.

Additionally, we select other games submitted for event activities.

To become a judge, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have at least 5 years of industry experience.
  • Have released games in your portfolio or relevant experience in the game industry.
  • Sing NDA

Terms of participation:

  • A judge will evaluate 35 games automatically assigned to them in the first round of voting, 20 games in the second round and can vote for the winners in the third round.
