DevGAMM Lisbon 2024, held on November 14-15 at the stunning Oitavos Hotel in Cascais, Portugal, was an unforgettable fusion of learning, networking, and celebration by the Atlantic coast. With keynote speaker John Romero, new networking activities, the thrilling DevGAMM Awards finale featuring a $100k prize pool, and exciting opportunities for gaming professionals, this year’s B2B conference truly set a new benchmark!

More than 770 attendees from 45 countries and 394 companies joined the event. With 48% of attendees from Portugal, the event showcased a perfect blend of local and international talent. Impressively, over 60% were first-timers at DevGAMM, and we’re confident it won’t be their last!

DevGAMM Lisbon 2024 brought together a stellar roster of 50+ industry icons, including John Romero, the legendary creator of DOOM. Plus, Terrance Cohen from Insomniac Games, Guido Schmidt from Rovio, Adam Boyes from Iron Galaxy, Celia Hodent, and Alex Nichiporchik from tinyBuild. Attendees had the chance to hear insights from speakers representing companies like Guerrilla, King, Flying Wild Hog, Ubisoft, and many more.

A fantastic highlight of the conference was the workshop room, where attendees gained exclusive hands-on knowledge. These unrecorded sessions made the insights even more valuable, featuring experts like Afonso Ferreira (DECA Games), Maria Borys-Piątkowska (Flying Wild Hog), Mafalda Duarte (Telescope Game Studios), Kevin Hagen (Tiny Roar), and more.

NETWORKING

The MeetToMatch platform facilitated countless connections, logging 990 of scheduled meetings. Attendees took full advantage of networking opportunities at the Expo Zone, featuring booths from companies such as tinyBuild, Madrid in Game, and eGamesLab.

Speed Networking proved to be a hit, offering an efficient way to forge numerous connections in a short time. The concept was simple: attendees paired up for quick 3-minute chats before switching partners. The room was packed, with every spot booked!

Engage! with Publishers & Investors gave game developers a unique chance to connect with representatives from TapNation, FDG Entertainment, Mika Games, tinyBuild, Miniclip, Krafton, and more. Developers came prepared with their presentations or trailers and pitched their projects directly to industry professionals. In just 1.5 hours, the activity sparked dozens of meaningful connections.

VIP and BUSINESS ticket holders enjoyed exclusive perks, including access to the Business Lounge and private Roundtable discussions. Sponsored by Elephant Games, these intimate sessions (up to 8 attendees each) provided a platform for deep dives into critical topics like AI in game development and crisis management in the industry, fostering thoughtful dialogue and actionable insights.

One of the highlights of DevGAMM in Portugal is how it perfectly balances being a B2B conference for game professionals with the laid-back vibe of its stunning venue. A prime example? Sunset Happy Hour! Sponsored by Belka Games, this was the ideal time to relax, connect, and mingle with peers in a casual, friendly atmosphere – proving that real business can happen in a chill setting.

The Career Hub, presented by Skillsearch, connected job seekers with employers, offering access to dozens of gamedev vacancies and providing recruitment advice for both candidates and hirers.

GAMES

The Game Showcase was a hub of creativity, featuring up to 60 incredible titles. Attendees got to meet the developers in person, and this was the busiest event area at all times.

Public Pitch, sponsored by Xsolla, brought the thrill of live presentations as five talented dev teams showcased their projects to a packed audience. Hosted by the charismatic Jörg Tittel from RapidEyeMovers, the event featured a stellar jury panel: Ilayda Bayari (Xsolla), Alex Nichiporchik (tinyBuild), Simay Dinc (Recontact Games), and Douglas Morin (Raw Fury).

After an engaging session of pitches and a lively jury discussion, the winners were announced: Arianna Lona and Chiara Orsi from MAD PUMPKINS impressed everyone with their pitch for MOVIEROOMS Cinema Management. Congratulations to the well-deserved champions!

The highlight of the event was the DevGAMM Awards Ceremony, where 48 best AA and indie games competed for a $100,000 prize fund, sponsored by Scorewarrior.

The ceremony featured a dozen special guests awarding the winners of the competition. The main award of the evening, the Grand Prize, with the $20k prize in cash, was taken home by Manor Lords developed by Slavic Magic.

The Southern European Game Festival on Steam was a hit! Featuring 387 submitted games, the festival offered exciting discounts, promos, and demos. The event garnered an impressive 2.7 million unique impressions and over 72,000 unique views.

SPECIAL EVENTS

The Main Party, sponsored by Scorewarrior, transformed The Oitavos Hotel into a hub of music, networking, and fun. With a DJ, karaoke, and a fully stocked bar, attendees partied late into the night.

The VIP & Speakers Reception kicked off DevGAMM Lisbon, offering a relaxed space for industry leaders and guests to connect before the event started.

The Aptoide VIP Dinner at the historic castle on Tamariz Beach offered an exclusive networking experience, sponsored by Aptoide, in a stunning setting perfect for meaningful connections.

The Golf Masterclass by Epic Games combined golf lessons with informal chats, all set against the stunning backdrop of the event venue’s picturesque fields.
